Inspired by Willy Guhl’s “Loop” chair from 1954, I rethought his form and created a collection of outdoor beach chairs that could weather California’s west coast in 2018. Working with my fabricator in downtown Los Angeles, we executed 3 rounds of prototypes before landing on the finished product: 5/16” powdercoat steel frames with twisted polypropylene marine nautical rope. These chairs are both comfortable and highly durable year round.
